Lake Champlain is a natural, freshwater lake in North America, located mostly within the borders of the United States (states of Vermont and New York) and into the Canadian province of Quebec.

Although it is smaller than some of the Great Lakes, Lake Champlain is a large body of fresh water. The lake is roughly 201 km long, and 23 km wide at its widest point. The maximum depth is approximately 400 feet (120 m).

There are a number of parks in the Lake Champlain region of both Vermont and New York. Two parks around the New York side of Lake Champlain are Ausable Point State Park and Cumberland Bay State Park. Ausable Point State Park , just outside of Platsburgh, has a large swimming beach with picnic areas, fishing, and many water activity rentals. The Cumberland Bay State Park is located in Platsburgh, with a large beach, many picnic areas, a soccer field, and beach volleyball court.
